The
community school renovation project began during the St. David's 2003 Work Camp
with the aid of over 30 volunteers from America.
The school was damaged
during the war. Bosnian government assistance was not available; without the aid
of St. David's, the school would continue to deteriorate.
The renovation
completed included new windows, doors, floors, and lighting throughout the school.
Also repaired and painted were the interior walls and exterior structure. A central
heating system is still needed for the school.
Today, 440 students and
33 teachers have an improved academic environment. Further, the community has
a school that they can be proud of, and one that will attract more refugee family
returnees. |
